Love the concept and the salt/pepper hair but too much color for me in this challenge. A close crop on the face with a black or white shirt would have been great. especially with all the smoke. Close but no cigar:)
I think this would be an awesome portrait with a little photoshop work. Take the top 1/2 of the photo, blur the background just a bit and convert to black and white. The light from the match will add a soft glow. Just a thought. |

I dont feel this meets the challenge, I was looking for b&w recreations, or even inturpreting this as the subject is b&w yours is not. The subjects hair is, but the man is the actual subject. |

Sorry, but it seems to me the challenge applies to the whole photo, not one small detail. I can ignore a small spot of color in the background of a mainly black and white rendition, but this does not meet the challenge. |

Too much color for the B/W part of this challenge. Subject does not consist of a large enough portion of the image to be considered the actual subject despite the title. Great image, technically fine, IMO: Not in the spirit of the challenge. Nominate for OOBIE. |

Too much color to be on topic, in my opinion. |

I like this photo in that it takes a second look to get to the black and white .... also interesting how the flame is illuminating the subject's face |
