 Special thanks to my neighbors for modeling on this one! They did such a great job with the expressions, and the photo turned out pretty close to the way I envisioned it. I would have preferred a more "natural" background, but there's already a lot going on here, and I didn't have enough room to get a good blur (the kitchen is actually right behind this backdrop).

Processing: Convert from RAW twice to get a darker background, Levels, slight Photo Filter warming, Noise Ninja, lots of assorted Dodge & Burn, spot saturation, change the color of the skirt, clone out some wrinkles and a little blurring on the background, USM and Vignette.

Post challenge... Woo! Thanks for the votes and ribbon. It's been a while. ;-)

I was determined to show the "whole story" within the photo rather than leaning on a title, and the concept obviously carried this one. Once I had the basic idea, it was such a struggle to find suitable models that I didn't really work out the details. My neighbors came home the evening of the deadline and I rushed over to get a quick shot. If there had been more space, I definitely would have kept the room in the background and blurred it. Even a white background would have been better, but this was the only backdrop I had in the car and I was trying to be quick. Too quick... I forgot to history brush "dad's" fingertips back after darkening the background. Oops! :-/

Lovely work Shannon. Personally I think your image conveys Misunderstanding a lot better than Yanko's, which is also a gorgeous shot, but yours is just that much more explicit and actually needs no title or explanation (which for me is the true acid test for this challenge). Fantastic work on a really challenging challenge :)

Fantastic color and what a great composition. Love how everything leans from the upper left to the lower right. (Darling idea, too!) Your lighting is very good. I wish that the pan were not cut off. This is a great photo/title combo. Well done~!

I kept coming back to this image & each time I got the feeling that something was missing. Don't get me wrong I think this is a great image and scored it as such. After the ninth time coming back to it, it hit me :), her hand seems to be coming forward. Catching a bit of motion in the pan may have but this over the top I scored it an 8

Outstanding! What's not to like about this shot? Everything is amazing to this pair of eyes - the lighting especially, but the interpretation and execution screams 10 to me. This was the first image presented to me on voting so I've no idea what the rest of the field looks like but this has to be a ribboner, nay even blue. Well done.

EDIT: Ok..i'm back...this is easily the blue by a MILE... :)

great lighting and focus and all that. seems a bit "staged" by looking like it is in a studio. If there was a living room or kitchen or something in the background it would be even funnier.

Beautiful quality, its wierd to see a photo like this as a studio shot, should have taken place in a kitchen or something, absolutley nice lighting and clarity, and thier face expressions are great,top three, 10.

Most shots in this challenge that I've seen so far have needed the title to help the viewer "get" the misunderstanding. This one has it all in the visual... tells the complete story. Very well done! :)
