 used a 10-stop ND filter and shot just after noon. (of course, right into the sun). I really like the effect that this filter gives. works best when it's overcast, or just before sunset.

PP - opened RAW in CS3. rotate to level and crop to more closely center the pier. layers for channel mixer, levels, selective color. flatten. resize, USM at small radius. add border. clone out a few dust spots on left side of frame. save for web.

A strong image. It is strange the way you have positioned the tops of the posts to match the horizon. But I think it adds to the interest of the shot.

I love the colors in this image. I find the piers ending right at the horizon distracting. I went back and forth in my thinking and decided that it doesn't work for me. I think I would like it better if they were slightly below the horizon

Very good thinking and execution. You realy fooled me there. POV works out fine. I do however have a problem with your picture, as pointed out below.

I am not sure whether there is an unambigious definition of leading lines, but in my book, they should be a line or several lines that lead the viewer's eye towards the main subject of the picture. I think that's not the case in this picture. Your pic uses a vanishing point rather than leading lines.

Very cool composition. Nice colors and use of lines. I wonder what the photo would look like if the pylons extended a bit beyond the horizon. I mention this because while the photo is so well balanced, the left wooden stringer breaks the symmetry with an off angle, so I curious if extending the pylons to break the horizon symmetry might restore balance. Not sure. Regardless, great job.

Good perspective, I like the foreground detail in the rocks, and the nice color in the sky. I think a graduated ND may have helped retain some of the color in the sky better as you had a longer exposure.
