I think the beard helps - and I went to some trouble to grow it. Not as much trouble as shaving, true, but it all has to come from somewhere...
Hard to improve on the original, but maybe if the field allows then this could go for the meta-brown. I could go for the brown of browns by deliberately taking a bad picture, but that would be self-betrayal, so instead I have to try and capture the spirit of another . . .

Shame on the voters. 84 votes were cast for 1,2, or 3...and only 14 people with enough integrity to leave a comment. What's the world coming to?

The border is pure genius. Nice of you to honor our leader in such dramatic fashion. Sorry about not getting the brown, though.

Ah. While you sleep in Finland, your fame has spread high and low, blue and brown(ish). I haven't done the math, but I hope my vote is not responsible for your failure to brown again. T

This is of course brilliant and eminently commentable. The obviousness of the reference, the dogged faithfulness to the uber technique of blur, and the laid on thick delineation of the subject testify to the high standards of dpc. The stunningly coordinated frame has much to teach us about good presentation. Such earnestness and aesthetic integrity should be rewarded and hopefully inspire us all to avoid lighthandedness, offhandedness and sheer disdain in the future. 10

I love that border! Now, why didn't *I* think of that? This photo makes the viewer feel like one of the barflies...

OMG - this is a true scream for the brown! That frame is the icing on the cake. I can't decide whether to give you a 10 or a 1. Okay, I'll give you a 1.

hmm... I think you picked a very hard photo to redo - the subject matter is tough to make look good. however, I think it could be better if it were more in focus and possibly from a different angle. I'm also not too keen on the border.

Unfortunately, this one resembles the original too much.

Too out of focus for my liking and I really think the border should be plain, sorry ... much better than the original though!!

not much better than Don's original. blurred, nosiy and the border is really brutal.
