This wasn't even what I was going to summit for this challenge. I was out at the railroad tracks shooting that. However on my drive back I noticed the cactus along the side of the ride each branch had spiky leaves I guess you could say. I pulled over and took a couple of shots of it not expecting much but upon looking at the prints I think these scream defining lines and the blue sky was a great backdrop!
This was a joshua tree and they only grow out here in the mohave dessert.

I like this a lot, but there is too much noise in the photo. Try shooting at a lower ISO.

Nice and bold contrast. Does not seem quite sharp enough for this subject, though.

A sound effort at leading lines ... The problem is the lines take you nowhere in the shot
Try to compose in such a way that there is a point of interest at either ends of the lines.

I don't really like the lighting from the side/behind on the fronds. Makes the shadows a little too deep

One good thing, the rotation adds some interest, but I don't feel the challenge is met here. The lines should be leading to a focal point, but they just radiate. If the subject was just "lines", you'd do okay.
