| Oh I love this. Wish his face weren't quite so shadowed. It would be fun to play with texture on this one and make it look like it's really old. Nice composition. I like the angle of the figure not being straight on. Maybe a tad harsh with lighting, but you could probably tone that down with contrast and brightness. |

I think the subject matter here is great. The toned black and white goes well with the subject matter too. Exposure wise, I think it's a shame that the very strong light makes his shirt more of a focal point than his face, hidden in shadow, which is what I'd like to see more of. I appreciate this is probably a quick grab shot (after asking) so you could hardly spend time asking him to turn this way and that depending on position of the sun nor use a reflector to get more light to his face. |

| Ingrid's right on the exposure aspects. I'd like to see the whole image burned a bit even if the face goes way dark -- could work as an "every-cowbow" study. The sepia is a great choice as it adds to the mood (old western). |

| The sepia is just wonderful and the only problem I see is an exposure one - the face it too dark, while the rest is a tad overexposed. |

| Wonderful portrait! Your subject really matches with the costume and with the setting very well. ( I hope it is a costume...lol). Also, I love the sepia you've used and with the slight overexposure, this picture really has an old time flavor to it. |

| This is one of my very favs. You can tell it is in a desert region just with the lighting. Some say that it may be too bright, bu it just emphasizes it more |

| I think a bit more contrast is needed here. I think the 'guy' is awesome. The whole scene is very good. Maybe a bit of light on his face, still I understand the hat/sun. Good good shot. I really admire this one. |

| Great subject. Photographing subjects with hats can be tough - all the shadow areas in this shot are just where you don't want them - on his face. A reflector could maybe help you throw some light under the brim and bring out his character and add a catch light to the eye. |

| Nice idea and it works well in sepia but the light is perhaps a little too harsh, creating deep contrast between shirt and face, although you have captured the detail in the face. |

| implied narrative! how refreshing! however, the shirt and sky feel way too hot, i would have tried a darker esposure, then a little dodging to bring out the face rom the shadows. |

IMHO the harsh lighting underemphasizes the face of your subject. Another time of day might have produced more pleasing results. The face being singled out in the challenge instructions detracts slightly from your score....

| the sepia tone works well...pose is nice and natural looking...maybe just a touch overexposed on the upper left but this is a very nicely done shot |
