interesting and somewhat ambiguous, this one got better every time I looked at it

Incline heads towards each other to give some sense of closeness!

I can't find much wrong with this, a lovely B&W portrait (9)

The squareness of the crop makes the distance between the two people difficult. My eye wants to look at the space between their heads, rather than at their faces. Maybe if she was tucked more under him? And I'd lose the sunglasses. I like his expression, though, and the black and white.

the b/w is very nice...this is a really good shot except for the reflection in her sunglasses...that is where my eye gets dran to and takes away from the shot

I do like the range of grays you got on this. Not being able to see the females eyes, is a bit distracting, especially because of the reflections.

Nice use of monochrome and I like the title because it pulls together two very different expressions into one image conceptually as well as the literal fact of these two people being together in the picture. - 8

I can't say why but I REALLY like his portrait! I don't think it will win but I hope it placed in the top ten - doing my part - 10

very noisy image. their heads should also be closer together with her eyes at his cheek level. if they are sun glasses, they have got to go, as they don't add to any story here.

I like the pose and the choice of B+W, don't care for the sunglasses, it would be nice to see her eyes. Not completely sure about the tree behind him, perhaps a bit more physical separation to throw it a bit more OOF.

A competent and stylish portrait. I find myself drawn more to the man, however who seems toc ommand a greater presence. it's not because he is taller - I think it is because of her glasses and a sense that her face is not quite so well focussed as his? Portraits of couples are tricky as they risk this competition betwen the subjects. When both face the camera, they should arguably be equal. Dark glasses make her more of an ambivalent model.

The focus is just a bit soft on the girl. They are so serious. I like this shot. I think the tones are wonderful Good entry.

Very good photo. The background focus is nicely blurred, and the subjects are nice and crisp. Great lighting too. Really nice.

nicely composed. I like the repetition in the angles of theor collars and the tree behind him. I would have removed her glasses or used a polarizer to get rid of the distracting reflections on them.

I like the expression you captured from both subjects - like they're both in synch. Great composition and good tones/lighting. Good luck!

And a very nice coupole they make! Glasses, while they add to the character of the young lady, are somewhat distracting with all the reflections. BOL

Like the compostion, using the tree to complete the diagonal formed by the different heights is neat. Good use of available light and the whole looks great in black and white.

The DOF on this seems to be fairly narrow. The male subject's eyes and t-shirt collar seem to be in focus but both the tree bark behind and the female subject's sunglasses seem to be OOF. You got a good set of subjects here with some texture to both of them (he with the facial hair; she with the glasses and hair moving around) but I think a smaller aperture would have helped this composition by widening the DOF. In my experience this is just something that you have to either get right from the first portrait you shoot or you have to take several like this where you want to bop yourself on the forehead when you review the shots and realize that you had the lens wide open until it finally sinks in to check EVERYTHING before taking that shot. Then again, there is another way. You can do what I do and just take hundreds of photos at each photo shoot so that hopefully somewhere in the first hundred or so you'll notice everything from the ISO to the aperture to the crap in the background. :)
I really think you have something here and I think this couple would be well worth shooting again.
