Sometimes there's just not time to stop and 'make nice' for a shot - some opportunities are available for just a split second so instead of letting the moment pass because you KNOW it's not going to be a perfect image - you choose instead to snap off what you can and tell the story.

This is one of those moments.

i realize from your photo noted that you feel this is not 'perfect' but boy is this one good - the man in the upper left MAKES this image - there is something serious going on - and I really don't want to find out what it is

Great candid shot and you are spot on with the 'shoot now' method, this shot could tell so many stories. The stark contrast and harsh lighting seems to add to the 'tention' in this shot :) hope you didn't go down there alone!

Somehow I must have missed a page of posts or something - hadn't seen this one before! And yes, I live for the moment, those rare opportunities when a shot presents itself. Then afterwards I think "Oh, this isn't DPC friendly" - heh! The lower guy does NOT look like a happy camper. The upper guy appears to be wearing a nametag, which strikes me as kinda odd since he doesn't seem the nametag type, and the spikes, well, they seem to really need to be there, and I have no idea why, but I like 'em.

The story. Stop Press. You have grabbed my attention. You remind me that that is what this is all about: grab the attention, tell the story, execute, and keep consistency.

Turned out nicely for a quick shot, great detail in the shadows and I like the lighting on the man leaning over the railing, well see.

great candid - the light just hitting him on the face as he leans over the rail is jut awesome.

You give great advice here about not missing the moment. I imagine there's a really good story here to tell, and this photo has certainly captured my interest.

Sometimes the story in a photo is more important than the technical aspect. And this is one of those times. Great capture.
