It's sad to see such a nice picture not place in the top ten. I gave this picture a 10 and I think it is worth it. For those of you who can't see the parallel lines, what are you looking for? |

thanks for kind comments on my first submission
for those who did not see parallels: look at the lines coming off the midline of the leaf (and the ones coming off those - it's like a fractal) |

I like the background. Fern maybe a bit soft or more resolution needed? |

I'm very fond of ferns, so your picture hits the spot. Amazing how nature's parallels are so much more beautiful than ours are. |

this is a unique idea for this challenge. i like the use of color on this a lot. something in the composition isn't quite working for me, though i can't pin down what it is. |

Great color, lighting, and DOF. I don't see parallels. This would be great for a repetition challenge. |

Nice lighting and depth of field. The tip of the leaf does, however, seem out of focus. |

Great depth of field. For me the upper left corner of an image always provides the most impact so putting the end of the leaf in that quadrant would greatly improve the impact of your image.
The parallel lines in your image are fairly weak though present..

The composition would be better if the leaf dominated the entire frame. 75% of the space is a blurred background, which doesn't add to the nice leaf shot you've taken. Also, the tip of the leaf seems out of focus and somewhat underexposed. |

I have to give extra marks for the sheer beauty of the greens. |
