Thanks! I put it into the Panning challenge where it did "ok" but since it was unblurred it didn't hold up as well as it could have.

Too cool. I've always wanted to get a shot like this, but something is always blurred. Good job!

Amazingly clear and sharp picture. Love the crop as it gives the bird space to still "fly".

I love the sharp focus here and the stop action of the wings. Nice panning as well.

This would be a perfect entry for the Panning challenge if you can make it work in basic. The detail on the egret is astounding. Wonderful color and contrast, and he really stands out against that background.

Thanks everyone - it's one of my favorite shots to date. I borrowed a friend's Tamron 200-500 zoom and I think I'm going to get one - for the obvious price/performance I'm not sure it can be beat. Note though that I did PP on this: contrast/sat, sharpening, NR (the usual stuff) as I shot it in RAW.

This is beautiful. Looks like there is no motion at all and the bird is just suspended. Really wonderful shot. Would be interested to know which lens you used.

Excellent - the bird is suspended in the air.
