Candid at a coffee shop.

Converted with Virtual Photographer and used 'Diffuse' filter on it. Overlayed with a light filter including the frame. Erased the filter off of her face.

I'm adding to the notes:
The blur is an experiment. I've never gone quite that soft on a photo before. I'm not sure I like it myself, but I did find the contrast between the dark side of her face and the extreme light of her hair to be compelling - almost abstract.

a nice study of light and reflection - the softness seems to accentuate how the light plays with her hair

I like the softness as it breaks things down into simple shapes and light interplay. with just a hint of a smile. :)

Hair, face and expression are all so minimally spotlighted/celebrated by your treatment. Yes, there are a few distractions, but this is a very fresh way of dealing with portraiture/the moment.

Lost for comment here sorry other than to say its a lovely shot and maybe do a little sharpening/burning on the eyelash. Oh and I'm not a fan of this type of border but it works well here :)

I like the lighting in this shot, though I do wish there were a tint of detail in the face. Cool border ad i like how it engulfs the photo.

You remind me that photos which imitate poster-like qualities are attractive. I learn from you that the backlit silhouette and the diffused view, like the low DPI printing of posters when one views them close up, are assets to be exploited by the artist and photographer.

This is cool. It looks like an outtake for a folk singer's album and that you caught her while she's performing. I dunno, I guess I kind of like the bright glow on the left. That combined with the wavy stuff in the upper left looks like she's radiating some kind of warm energy.

Ooooooooh. . . .I like the glowy look of this. It adds a striking sense of drama to the photo. I think the softness is a nice touch. Great job, Alicia!

It is a great effect and wonderful candid. The spot in her hair is a tad bright though for my taste. The soft focus seems to work here though.

Uniquely refreshing shot. Almost dreamlike. Nicely done.

It's almost a yin/yang thing going on here with the very brights and very darks. Is she wearing sunglasses on her head? It does make for an interesting shot.

The brightness to the left is strong but it doesn't overpower the little smile that's captured in frame. What I assume many here would call imperfections, I'll chalk up to style...your personal signature. Sweet enough for me. Cheers!

I love the softness of this portrait and how it make this woman look so very feminine. I do agree with some of your other commenters that the bright spots are a little distracting, but that would be very easy to fix.

That Hava Java is becoming quite the spot for you! I like the high contrast, but would like to see a little less of the blown out spots on her hair. The blur certainly works here, especially on the hair. I find the overall style of this compelling, and want to try it myself. How did you create the border?

I like the boldness of this too...the extremes in lighting really work well. I would consider cleaning it up a bit if it were me though..specifically I would clone out the bright white "dots" created by her necklace, bottom right hair highlights, on her kneck and hair...I think it would make it even stronger! I also like the irregular border.

I like the soft, blured, dreamy look on her. My only consideration the bright spots in the hair.

This is a good example of natural lighting. The way it catches her hair is really nice. The soft focus thing isn't one of my favorites, but that is strictly personal preference.
