 we've had the most incredible rain falls over the last couple of days .. yesterday i took katee for a walk on the firetrail .. i love trying to catch her on film when she's running thru the small creek that forms after exceptionally heavy rain ..
i've started experimenting with flash photography especially when its too dark to take a photograph of a moving subject, like katee, in this sort'v environment .. i'm still learning about aperture and shutter speeds & how they can drastically alter the resulting image when using flash .. i dont have an external flash ..
there's some excellent info about flash photography in here if anyone's interested .. canon 100mm - not close enough also info about macro photography too .. altho i dont totally agree with everything that's been said .. like tripods for instance .. trying to set up a tripod when shooting a dragonfly, for example, when he's there for a very limited time and any movement you make could frighten him off, doesnt compute to me ..
this is the original to give you an idea of how the lighting looked with the flash on those camera settings ..

Incredible sense of movement without having to use blur, etc so that all the rich, organic detail is preserved as well.

you are an inspiration when it comes to PP Roz! me, I am just getting the cam lined up how I want it and then calling it a great day if the picture comes out halfway decent! LOL!!

She looks like a kangaroo bounding through there. Love the overlay. It gives it almost a grungy feel.

Fantastic, roz. You are so brave! Few of us could get away with this kind of processing and have it look as good as this. You've pulled out the essential elements and blackened the rest into a wonderful backdrop that neatly compliments the action you've captured. Love it.

I really like the effects you did to this, and all of your photos really! I would love to try some of that but I think the basics is where I should stay for now!

yes- i see how the processed one is improved - from fairly ordinary to a stand-out image !
I just purchased a flash unit for my rebel & it is AWESOME !!! I will read the info.- thanx ,Roz :)
