So I finally put a calendar together, thanks primarily to the support I received from the folks in the October '07 Slice of Life side challenge. In fact, I've made a ton of stuff on Zazzle, and have even sold a few items :-)

The shots were inspired by the head shots of movies stars from the 1940's, where they would be dreamily averting their eyes from the camera. I used the pseudo film strip overlay I made (it's posted in my overlays folder), and the images themselves have the Orten effect (combining and overexposed sharp image with an underexposed blurred image, kind of a dreamy look).

And to add, the 'film strip' and scratchy treatment came from the influences of the wonderful texture and overlay side challenges. Not for everyone I know, but I didn't want to create just another 'cute cat' calendar :-)

Oh and yes, this is for sale on my lulu site:
//stores.lulu.com/mcgino
as well as lots of other crap on my zazzle site:

Come to think of it, it was chosen as 'calendar of the day' on Zazzle :-)

You are a true marvel with cats - you really do capture their personalities very well. I very much like the treatment you used here. I shall have to go check out the zazzle thing - never heard of that before!

Coleen, this is amazing!! So glad you've put your extraordinary cat photos on every day things so people can enjoy them. The calendar is the bomb - love it!! I've bookmarked your pages so I can go back and buy stuff for myself and people.

I loved the Maui poster - brilliant colours streaking here and there, set off against the black - something you could enjoy as an abstract. Here I am confused by the overlay and framing: the strength is in your cats, and the way you have caught their eyes, different postures and settings. I would think vignetting or haloing if anything. (Maybe hard to judge coming from the big splash of Maui!).

This is very creative and amazing. You should def. try to sell this as well as the other poster of Maui scenes.
