sorry, i also did not see the reflection on my monitor :(
10/07/2002 07:40:00 AM
i wished i had noticed the reflection as well ... very cool
10/07/2002 02:26:00 AM
I assumed my monitor wasn't set right after a while, but even when I set it to 100%, STILL couldn't see a reflection. Finally downloaded and monkeyed with it in PS ... THERE it is! Very tricky idea, wish I could've seen it earlier, surely would've upped my vote from a 3 to at least a 6.
10/06/2002 11:18:00 PM
I'm really surprised this one didn't do better. Maybe people didn't look hard enough to find the reflection or maybe their monitors aren't set up right.

I still like it though.
10/06/2002 10:51:00 PM
Wow, originally looked at this at work and had no problem seeing the reflection and gave you a 7. Thought then and still think it's a great idea and a great shot. Just now looked at it at home and whoops! Where'd the reflection go? lol...too bad so many people had trouble seeing it. Should have placed higher.

dude, exactly where is the reflection in this photo? I'm trying my hardest to give you credit here... are you being figurative about staring at a cup of coffee, aka, "reflecting"?
10/05/2002 03:30:00 PM
I don't understand. Is there a reflection that I am missing?

T
10/05/2002 01:05:00 PM
Very nice. Too bad I can hardly see the reflection. I'll give you a 9
10/04/2002 09:13:00 PM
Am I missing the theme here?
10/04/2002 08:17:00 PM
Please forgive my ignorance, but I fail to see the reflection, maybe because i don't know what dpjava is, if it is a software program, ans for your dpjava is like cold coffe, well.
10/04/2002 07:55:00 PM
Good contrast
10/04/2002 06:22:00 PM
What an awesome idea! I put it in photoshop and was able to see the reflection more by putting the brightness up and contrast down. Would like to see reflection more clearly..otherwise great and very creative!
10/04/2002 12:50:00 PM
I really like the contrasting colors on this one.
10/03/2002 11:47:00 AM
glad i came back and looked at this again - if your monitor isn't adjusted JUST RIGHT, you can't see the reflection - at least I didn't the 1st time -- that means you're moving up from 2 to 8
10/03/2002 07:13:00 AM
I had some help on this one. I had to turn the brightness on my monitor to it's max in order to see this reflection. I don't know if it's my monitor that's off or yours, but perhaps when the challenge is over you can start a thread in the forums using your photo as an example for gamma settings or monitor calibration? Anyway, good shot, though I wish the reflection were stronger. 6, just-married

Reflection ? Overexposed, unless you intended a hi-key still life ?
10/02/2002 07:25:00 PM
I had to crank my monitor all the way to light to see anything at all. A great shot of the coffee though. DPz
10/02/2002 07:20:00 PM
had to look thrice to see it. Very subtle! Excellent. Slight yellow colour cast which is unpleasant (handle, background)
10/02/2002 05:45:00 PM
Nice sharp interesting picture but sorry, I don't see the reflection.
10/02/2002 03:03:00 PM
you are going to have problems this week with people not being able to see the dp in the coffee. considering all the problems people seem to have with monitor calibrations.
10/02/2002 11:36:00 AM
This was not very obvious. I knew there had to be a reflection in there somewhere. I did finally find it only after brightening up my screen all the way. The concept is good and your point is made well. I am afraid that the reflection isn't strong enough, and the people that wont take the time to try to see it will just mark it down. It is a shame, as it is a really nice shot. The angle and framing/cropping are great, and the focus is fine. The lighting is nice on the subject. Overall this is a nice shot. Good luck in the challenge. ~Hbunch7187~

i don't see reflections, but i love coffee, so if your score's low, it ain't my fault.
10/02/2002 08:04:00 AM
Ok I try hard to think outside the box but Im not getting the reflections element to this shot. It's a fine picture of a cup of coffee (albeit a little static due to centre placement). Good reproduction of all the whites (which can be tricky). 6 - floyd.
10/02/2002 06:55:00 AM
I didn't see the reflection immediately but knew there was probably one somewhere. I like it. The fact is it turns my stomach as I don't like coffee, but I won't hold that against you!!! 8/10
10/02/2002 12:08:00 AM
Interesting. Too bad it wasn't a bit more visible. Great idea.
10/01/2002 09:20:00 PM
That looks like very strong coffee or motor oil. Very suttle highlights.
10/01/2002 08:21:00 PM
There must be something wrong with my monitor because I don't see any reflection. Autool
10/01/2002 06:47:00 PM
clever and creative...wish the reflection were more visible, I can barely see it
10/01/2002 03:16:00 PM
Neat idea - but it's awfully hard for me to see. I had to turn the brightness all the way up, and it's still fairly faint. :) Could be just my calibration though. Very original idea - I don't know if it could be executed any better or not? - 6 - JB
10/01/2002 01:18:00 PM
very nice
10/01/2002 12:14:00 PM
Meets the Challenge: I have no idea... Reflection is not visible unless the whole image is a reflection. I have no reference point here...

Artistic Merit (Would I print/frame/hang it?): 7
Creativity (Did a lot of thought go into this photo?): 5
Technical (Focus/DOF/Lighting/Etc): 7
Composition (Subject well-positioned and framed): 7
WOW Factor (Is the photo interesting?): 4

Score: 6 - setzler

Wow, do I not get this one. Really great photo of the coffee cup, saucer and coffee. I'm not too crazy about the background (too similar to cup/saucer). Please convince me there is ANY link to the challenge and I will raise your score. 6 Swash
Thanks for the note: Raised your score anyway. Very nice, very subtle! How about a split, 7?
10/01/2002 09:49:00 AM
I like the idea, but the DPC reflectiion is just too dark to see without cranking the monitor up. I would advise being a little less subtle next time!

Oh, stuff it. I like the picture anyway. Maybe the subtly is good! 7
10/01/2002 06:27:00 AM
I've checked this picture on a couple of monitors now. I don't see a reflection anywhere.
10/01/2002 05:09:00 AM
Very pretty picture, but am I missing the reflections?
10/01/2002 03:45:00 AM
A great shot, but I miss the reflection part of it.
10/01/2002 03:30:00 AM
a perfectly inviting cup of coffee........ good highlights and no hot spots, nice shadow detail, beautiful contrast.......... I think I'll pour a cup myself.
09/30/2002 09:05:00 PM
Cool. I hope others take the time to see it. It may be a bit too subtle. karmat
09/30/2002 08:27:00 PM
A little more light on the reflected paper would have been nice.
09/30/2002 01:00:00 PM
the reflection is nearly invisible - that's a shame! 10 for the effort and idea.
09/30/2002 11:15:00 AM
Nice job. Score 7 Justine
09/30/2002 07:48:00 AM
Two of my favorite things! Very cool - 7. kathleenm
09/30/2002 04:21:00 AM
Where is the reflection? Why has this shot been entered for this challenge?
09/30/2002 03:29:00 AM
I'm still looking for a reflection...I'll check back again to see if I am just overlooking it. Very nice shot of the coffee, however.
09/29/2002 10:23:00 PM
very subtle :) I like it.
09/29/2002 09:07:00 PM
Although a nice photo, I fail to see any reflections in this shot. There's plenty of shadows but no reflections.
