 I Bought this dollar store magnifying glass (sidebar- my daughter asked "How much did you pay?" :D )
I was messing around before the challenge shooting my eye through the magnifying glass then editing the crap out of the shot ... selective desat as well as running the entire image through the dragonizer. I came up with this image which I really like unfortunately it is illegal in basic editing .

My challenge was to replicate the shot as best I could using only basic editing. The result is my submission. I took a shot of my eye and edited it to convert the image to black and white. I printed the image and taped it to the inside of my magnifying glass(did I mention they cost a dollar).

I then held up the glass as if I was looking through and shot away. It was tricky to position the eye so that it looked like my refracted eye. Hope the voters like it ... I do

Great photo... but I'm not a fan of the 'floating head' effect thanks to the black clothing, and the background in the upper left corner is a tad distracting... but I'm nitpicking really... well done.

In basic editing I'm assuming the magnifying glass has a B/W picture of the right eye attached to it. It's great that you kept the same reflection in it. Very well done. 9

Great minds indeed, sir. :) (which to me is a good thing, since I've always thought of yours as one of the more creative minds around here).

I don't vote on challenges that I enter, but if I did this would be in my top three without question.

Eye catching indeed. Like the window theme. Black is nice contrast all is o you tack sharp. The shine of the cap material distract me a bit. Is that a styrofoam cup om the ballister behind you.The ambient backlight is nice. Good luck on this top 10 maybe top three placement. Man, that eye grows on me meditatively. -10-

Very clever take on the "window and the soul". The lighting is terrific too. I really don't like the "gimick" of the selective b/w look however you accomplished it. I think the photo stands on it's own and doesn't need the selective b/w.
