| The tones in the complection were retained even with such a strong background. It looks like a happy portrait. The backlight is a little too strong for me to rate this outstandingly. I think it was a good choice to use one, as it can really bring out the texture of her hair. |

nice effect, albeit a little overdone on the left part of the pic. I really like the glow on the right (our right), and a little burning on the left and it would mesh nicely. good job.

| Great attempt at meeting this challenge. The backlit-hair thing can work very well in a portrait situation, but to me it looks a bit over-done here, so much so that it has turned a large portion of her hair yellowish-white. I also probably would have cropped this to a portrait orientation. I think with a little diffusion on the backlighting, you can end up with a great shot! |

personally I feel the orange is a bit strong, however the rear lighting should be a highlight and is blown way over the top by about three stops perhaps. Hair lights in portraits is a very nice addition accenting detail or snap in a shot, but taken to an extreme it can ruin a shot too. Ironically, the exposure on the face is good in fact, but it is just overtaken by the rear lighting. It is also nice when using hair-lights, to get a catch light on the shoulder line as well if you can.

| The light behind her is a bit to harsh. It makes her appear somewhat out of focus. I think if you would've toned down the backlighting and put some more on her face, this would've had more POW! |

| Heavy highlights on the hair take the eye away from her face. There is a cool feel to the light on the right side of her face, but everything else seems very warm. |
