Wow! 7th from last... at least not another brown ribbon. (Woulda been my 2nd in as many months.) What a bunch of comments, WOW, from "GOOOOO!" to "...here's your 1!" So, no apologies. This is still a learning curve. Yeah, I know, DNMC, right? But I had to go with this shot. It captured the moment for me... 18,000 people at a highly energized Obama '08 Rally!!! Bright television lights and flashes firing constantly. Carolyn Kennedy was there, even! But I'm drifting off topic. Point is, I was fully-zoomed, and hand-held at 1/30th sec. Sharp enough pour moi. I captured the glare, the lights, the action, the energy. I was THERE, "dude!" (No, not a TV screen capture, um, duh...) Sure, I could've pumped up the volume, added contrast, yada yada, but I captured a moment as I experienced it. Outside the clunky box. Not within the lines. Not so into scores and competition that it matters. Just trying out different things. And, yes, per a recent thread, it's not about being clever or catchy titles at dpc... it's about the photo challenge. I still say there's room for artsy fartsy... and a play on words, i.e., "The Eyes Have It!" = "The Ayes Have It!" as in winning an election... Barack's got his eyes on "the prize" and all 36,000 eyes were on him that warm night. ("Whatever, dude," right?) So, Ladies and Gentlemen, you're looking at the next great President of the USA! It's time for a change! We CAN DO BETTER and we will! Peace now!! Let's restore this country to the shining example of goodness and kindness and love for our fellow man that we can and should be. Ranting here? Oh, 'scuse please. I'll step down from my soapbox now. Whatever you do, get out there and VOTE... right? Peace & Love -- Coyote. Sweet dreams.

I think this needs more emmphasize on the individual's eyes, narrow it down to one or 2 people. Also, the whole picture is poorly focused. The main subject does show an intense expression, though.

Like: Well shot, i can only imagine how difficult it would be to photograph without anything in your way in that crowd.
Dislike: White haze, little blurry. But "eyes" dont really seem to be the subject of this shot.

is that a picture of your t.v. screen or were you really there?

Ok, thinking outside the box I see, but still looks hazy and is poorly composed. He's too centered and he could use some headroom.

IMO, This could have been a much more powerful (and higher scored) shot. I would have liked to see a little tighter crop. Because of some of the bright colors the audience is wearing, I find the background distracting. But more of a negative is the sharpness. I also find the lighting to be off, you may not be able to control that or edit for that, but the shot has a haze to it. If this was in focus, especially his eyes, I would have scored nuch higher. Because of it being out of focus, I scored where I did.

OBAMA in 08! Not a fantastic photo, but a great submission--I'd love to get to an Obama rally!

Holy moly, I wasn't expecting to see this, a little more contrast would have helped, does he know he's running in two challenges? ha ha

A bit of contrast would have made him POP! The title is a great one.

Looks like you were behind glass photographing this and as a consequence you've lost lots of contrast. You could have recovered some of this by making the dark areas darker.
