A grand old building -- an old brewhouse -- built in the 1800's which our company is slowly but surely restoring, inch by inch, to it's original beauty. This is the same building I used a couple of years ago in another challenge before it had its 14 layers of paint removed.

One day it will likely have high priced loft condos up above, and something very cool I'm sure below :)

The blue reflections of the sky in the windows add to the beauty of this fabulous old building! However disappointing though the score may be, the weight of it's historical significance will carry through as part of a series as your documentary of this building unfolds. I can't wait to see the condos! ;-)

How this could have ended up sub-5 is beyond me. It's sharp, interesting, and nicely lit. Your edit that you posted in the thumbnail is amazing, by the way.

its a brilliant old building .. love the process you did on the 'dark phantom's castle' .. its a shame this was a basic edit coz it just didnt give you the tools to be able to make this one really sing .. i dont think it deserved such a low score tho .. the voters were particularly harsh on this one .. :)

What an amazing thing to see the difference between the two photos. I bet your photo history of this work is something to see. My favorite part of this is seeing the blue sky being reflected in the windows. I bet this building is going to be gorgeous when the restoration is complete.

I love seeing high quality restorations of historic buildings...IMO even better if they can be returned to the public domain rather than becoming simply condos for a few, but even if they do become apartments then at least everyone will be able to see the magnificence of this structure.

I love the architectural contrasts here of the stunning brickwork (which has a feeling of Victorian opulence) and the silo and 'bridge' which are plain and functional (but still possess their own strange beauty). the chimney on the right gives a nice counterpoint in terms of height and width.

Thank you so much for posting the old picture as well just so people can appreciate the change that has been made

I was shocked to see this here. Absolutely lovely perspective, great light reflecting in the windows. It really has a little bit of everything, especially where Architecture is concerned!

MMmmmm! nice subject good photography, IMHO if you had moved the camera to the left and aligned the chimney with the edge of the frame the inward distaution would have disappeared, which is what I believe cost you a lot of higher scores. If you remember we discussed this in the earlier challenge when you did this shot, but in basic you can not do what you could then.

It so interesting to see the difference with the paint removal. A closer viewpoint may have scored higher, but I like seeing the whole affair. It is a grand building and I look forward to seeing it as it progresses! I love those little spots of color in the upper tower.

Beautiful building. Condos there would be great (I think?)

Nice shot, the walkway kind of takes away from it though. Sky and building are fantastic though

That looks like a beautiful old building, I would love to see it closer

Beautiful color, cloud shape in the sky, and dome, but the rest of the main building is very flat. good balance with the tower in the right of the photo though

beautiful building, for my taste I would have prefered a focus on one detail rather than the big view. intersting combination of industrial and building design

I think there is so much interesting architecture on that building that you could have gone closer and left out the uninteresting smokestack and dead-end walkway. It feels busy yet there's so much negative space.
