 Looking up (obviously) in the rotunda of the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines. The capitol building is about the most interesting thing you can find in the middle of boring Iowa. The exterior of this dome is covered in gold leaf, but the interior is actually just aluminum leaf covered with gold-tinted varnish.

This shot posed a difficult lighting situation. I had to expose for the dome, which of course left the floors below quite dark. Light was brought back into these area using the recovery tool in ACR. It was a tough decision whether to submit the full frame or the square crop.

I like this one. Debating whether the blue shield at the top should be 100% visible or not. Would be nice to see both and make a choice.
