I don't get the feeling of there being some off screen expectation...maybe if the dog was sitting up or barking at something it would have been more apparent to me

Very nice shot. I like the color and lighting. Dog looks more like it is just looking around instead of expecting something.

Looks like there's two assies in this competition! The attention to "something just beyond the frame" for this breed is how they live most of the time ;) I hope you're title doesn't hurt you here as it may be off for the literalist.

At least this dog is not begging for something :D Great composition, it seems to show the dog 'reflecting' very well.
