I could get a ticket for feeding the deer , but I seriously doubt I would. It interferes with their migratory instincts, it encourages a horrible disease called 'wasting disease' which is a variant of Mad Cow Disease and makes my neighbors angry at me.
They ate my strawberries, all my ground cover perennials and trimmed back every tree and shrub I have. I'm raising the fence this summer because I'm putting in a vegetable garden.
The snow is so high the deer are walking over my fence. They are sleeping in the shade of a huge Crabapple tree that shields the snow from falling underneath.
One bad thing....where there's deer there's cougars and it would not surprise me to have a cougar kill a baby under my back porch.
unreal... |

Wow, what a special photo op you have created for yourself here. i love deer, but do appreciate how destructive they can be. Wait until spring, you may have tiny little ones. I am so jealous. |

They're rather cute little ones, aren't they? I remember waking up one morning to find a whacking great carthorse in the garden. The police organised taking it away. I never did find out where it came from (I was only eight at the time, though). |

They are so cute, and your garden will never be the same! When we lived up in the hills, the deer would come out of the barranca and into our yard. They were very picky eaters though and only went for the rosebuds. We were lucky to get a couple of dozen mature flowers all year long. |

Awwwww!!! How sweet! Aren't you lucky to have them come to you like that. They must like your energy (and your food - haha!). Thanks for showing us this beautiful blessing. |

You're sharing your perennials with them?! You *are* a kind person. They're adorable. I don't think I could resist feeding them, either. |

Hehe now you won't be able to get rid of them! Anyway they look so nice to me I wouldn't want to but dunno if they can do some kind of damage.
Wonderful place you live in. |
