 It has been raining this winter and so things are starting to grow! In winters where we have little or no rain - like last year - nothing grows to speak of.

Consequently, this mountain (and the rest of the Sonoran Desert) can look more or less barren. Though the Sonoran Desert is the lushest desert on the planet, it is still a desert and most of the time bears little color.

This time of year, if it has rained sufficiently, GRASS begins to grow and creates a velvety blanket on the mountain. This evening, the setting sun was illuminating that grass so beautifully. I tried to capture it, but couldn't get an angle in which the sun wasn't shining into the camera.

With a little processing it still gives you an idea of what it looks like here. The bushes in front are creosote. I will save details on this fascinating plant for some other time.

With all that green, it doesn't look much like the desert. I like the lens flare too.
