If only I had time to tell you...
...well, prompted by Charlene's comment, I guess I do have time to add notes now that I'm not busy trying to squeeze this in under the wire at 11:50 the night of the challenge.
I have a kaleidoscope with a 1" diameter wood barrel that has a clear marble mounted at the end rather than the typical sandwich of lenses with small pieces of plastic. When you look at different things through it it abstracts them into patterns. I mount it to my lens by rigging a beer koozie with one end cut out and cardboard donuts inserted. The cardboard holds the kaleidoscope in the center, the koozie fits over my lens.
When I visualize the image I thought the rubber duck would be larger. But I had a problem with lens to subject distance and didn't have a larger duck. So, I threw some blue ribbon in hoping to get a complimentary color. Unfortunately, the ribbon is mylar-like and too reflective for what I wanted. But when one decides to shoot at the last minute for a challenge it's hard to quickly come up with better alternatives. (The other yellow is gift wrap and there is a hint of purple gift wrap, too.)
Processing: levels, curves, hue/sat, re-size and sharpen. I was unhappy with the orange cast but am new to PS 7 and haven't worked out selective color adjustments yet.
The image scored in the range I expected. But I was disappointed that it took 3 days to get a first comment. The lack of comments says as much as the score--uninspiring. I'll keep trying to create kaleidoscope images because I like them and, hopefully, what I like about them will one day be conveyed....sigh. |

I got that this was a kaleidoscope during the challenge and thought it was such a creative idea. But I never saw the ducks! So cute! |

Ok, first I look at your picture, a bit perplexed, "How'd she do this?!?" Then I read your comment and burst out laughing. I swear I can hear your voice uttering those words. An incredible image, imo! |
