I am so sorry if I offended you, the way that you have replied makes you sound very defensive. You say that you wanted some honest comments, I gave you my opinion and it appears as though you are taking offense to them. This is not going to make people want to comment on your work, phrasing can come across so differently than when it is said in our heads. Keep on shooting and good luck!

i'll agree with Juliet here, by saying that it isn't a bad shot, it is just a bit boring, maybe adding some color in the background, such as having something blue/purple to complement the main subject. I think this would add a lot to the shot and add some interest for the voters. Really though, it doesn't need much, just adding a few things here and there.

Just my 2 cents worth, it is not a bad shot at all. The lighting is ok and the focus is good. But to be honest my first gut reaction was, it was a tad boring. It is just sort of sitting there doing nothing. I see more orange than I do yellow, but there is yellow on the righ thand side, maybe with a little stronger lighting behind it making it a little more transparent would have helped with the colour and interest? I think the crop is a little too close. I like the texture that you have got out of it though.

Thank you, Melethia for your post at least there are some who have a system to their voting. I seems i me that the voting system could use some serious tweaking, I is difficult to judge all the photos and comment, as a judge I strongly believe that in the cast of voting one, two, and even 3 your owe the Photographer some kind of words direction. If it's not your taste then past it by or give a four.

This is a very difficult site sometimes, especially for newcomers. Were I to have voted this in a challenge, I would have started with a 5, as it does indeed meet the challenge and is reasonably well exposed. I can't tell if it's truly in focus or not but it's not wickedly out of focus. It appears yellow to me - but you can see from your comments that on some monitors it did not. Voters here can be very, very specific and picky. Your best bet, challenge-wise, is to hit the challenge as dead-on as you can. I probably would not have increased my vote from a 5, though. The photo doesn't really say anything to me - if that makes sense. It's a close crop, which is OK, but it's not especially well balanced - it's just sitting there in the frame with an awkward amount of space around it. There's no context - while this sometimes will do well at DPC - ie a subject on a completely barren background, I prefer to have some sort of context involved. Keep in mind that I vote the way I vote - I certainly don't speak for the majority.

China berries are yellow, this is the way they look in winter. I though i was a great shot, i didn't think it would win, but I can see no reason for the 1's and 2's. Maybe the cropping could have been better, the lighting and focus are dead on, and it is yellow. I would love to hear why some of you thought i was "Bad".

Unique and original for the topic. Not the same ol' lemon or rubber duckie

this doesn't appear to be yellow.

Looks a little shriveled but I have no idea what one is supposed to look like, and the light is doing a nice job of highlighting the texture. Not entirely sure I like the crop but the berry's quite nice.

I'm sure you'll get many comments saying the same thing, but I'll add one to the list: Isn't this orange? ;)
