Challenge: Rivers & Streams (Advanced Editing VI ("Time Lapse"))
Camera: Canon EOS-400D Rebel XTi
Lens: Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM
Location: Cambridge, England
Date: Jan 9, 2008
Aperture: 5.6
ISO: 400
Shutter: 1/250
Galleries: Landscape, Water
Date Uploaded: Jan 13, 2008

The timing of this challenge couldn't have been more perfect. I moved to Cambridge last weekend, and it gave me the best excuse ever to wander around and explore all the little bridges and back alleys at sunset-time.

Also, for pretty much the first time ever, I find landscape style photography appealing to me. Normally I like to look at it, just not do it myself, but I find something about the river and all those little bridges really appeals to me...

Editing: My first proper tone-mapping adventure :)
Tone-mapped from a single exposure in Photomatix, followed by minor tweaks in photoshop - brightness/constrast, hue/sat, selective colour, minor spot healing, a couple of soft light layers, bits of dodging and burning.

Anyway, pictures with no people or fire in them so aren't my speciality, so I'll be happy with whatever mark this gets... For the same reason, any feedback would be much appreciated.

Photographers should never limit themselves to a particular genre, just be free with that cam! What an enchanting little place.

Lovely and serene. Personally, I would like it just a tad more if it were a slightly wider shot to include the rest of the bridge on the right.

It just doesn't convey that the light is dying to me, seems to bright for that. I also would have liked to see the entire bridge, instead of just 3/4ths of it.

Good composition and I like the tree on the left. I think ti would feel more balanced, though, if the rest of the bridge was showing.

this seems real tight. a bit wider on this to get more of the bridge and tree would uncramp it and balance it off.

A pretty scene, and I like the color tones, but there doesn't seem to be a main subject.

A very pleasing scene, well exposed and a good deep dof, but I do wish I could see a little moe of the bridge, perhaps to the end of the second arch.
