 Shot with Nikon 50mm f/1.8 reversed on the front of a Nikon 55-200mm VR lens @66mm thus creating a magnification of slightly more than 1x. Add to that a little cropping and the magnification from DX sensor to screen, and you're looking at a kitchen sponge at perhaps 20x magnification!

The subject was lit using an off-camera SB-600 speedlight diffused with some tissue paper.

Post-processing: tuning in Adobe camera raw, open into photoshop at 2x final size, halve down once more, expand canvas to add border, levels + color balance, a little unsharp mask sharpening and finally save to web.

I don't think I would have ever guessed kitchen sponge on this shot. Very cool abstract shot of an everyday item. Great lighting and focus, one of my favs of this challenge, well done!

Even with the title I can't visualize what this is so I see it just as abstract shapes. That said, it holds up well with no title. The irregular shapes, shiny surfaces and depth catch my eye.
