Well this one was fun! This picture is all about learning a new technique. Considering I decided to learn how to do it, make all of the pieces, and take and edit the photo about 3 hours before the deadline, I think it turned out pretty good! Graphicfunk's Multiple Exposure Mentorship Thread (and the details on his various images) taught me everything I needed to know.
First, I built a small box out of cardboard and black card stock with two flaps to place over the lens. It was quickly and crudely built, but it worked. Next, I got myself, the camera, and an Alien Bee 400 all set up and took a few test shots.
Finally, the shot. I got myself in position (holding a piece of black foamcore behind my head. My wife turned off the lights. I hit the remote to start the exposure (bulb mode). With glasses on, my wife held one flap on the box closed and hit the flash. This exposed the right side of the sensor. She then closed that flap and opened the other one while I took off my glasses and tried not to move. She then hit the flash again, then I hit the remote again to end the exposure.
Whew! I think that's it.
Shot in RAW: adjusted exposure and white balance
PS:
Rotate about 21 degrees CCW
Crop
Selective Color (bumped the blacks a little)
Curves (crazy acidify-esque red/blue/green channels)
Channel Mixer (to convert to B/W, dropped to 34% opacity)
Brightness/Contrast (+9/+7 just for a little bump)
Resize
Sharpen (USM at 200/.3/0)

Haha a really cool effect. At first I didn't like the tilt to the subject, but I think it works in this shot. |

I think all of the nose should be visible. It's over-exposed on one side. I'd be interested to find out how you managed to fade out the glasses with basic editing. |

How did you do that with just basic editing...? Very cool by the way! |

Good job holding still through the long exposure. Scary pupils... |

Very clever take on the topic. The hues in the face need fine tuning. |
