Hi Roz
beautiful image!!..I would have thought this fits into the description of a natural action sequence too.
I have a doubt:
If the ball was put on the ground in the position shown in capture # 2, how did you manage to show the player finishing his actual swing (shown in capture #3) in a diferent position (a few more feet away from the camera)? |

I really like this image. Colors & composition are excellent!
All the confusion of what is & is not time lapse is the exact reason of why I didn't enter, I had tried to think of a couple things but wasn't sure what would be legal. |

As usual, Roz, you accepted with grace a decision that was to say the least, "debatable." This is not a cherry picking set of images but one fluid motion. (Obvious, perhaps, because the sky would have changed slightly if there had been 'cherry picking'.)
Need I say this is one heck of an image? Nice one, Roz. Now where's a time lapse of that cute dog of yours.
Alice

Hi, sorry for that validation result.
To be honest I agree with you and I think Frisca just thought the three images were part of the swing movement and not as you said the preparation of the shot. It we were talking about the swing then I would agree with SC since then the three images must be overlapping (since the body is anchored to the same spot), however the way you explained it the shot is telling a different story Tim walking to the spot, testing the wind and then swinging, three separate phases of the same event. |

Wow this is a fantastic image Roz!!! I'm amazed at your creativity and skill. This would have ribboned, I'm sorry you couldn't enter it, but still this image ROCKS, and remember you might not have taken this if not for the challenge, so all ends well, because this is a superb image for your portfolio and your wall!! |

A great sequence made up of really strong images and a great capture of the ball in flight once again. Good job it was deemed as not meeting the challenge rules, as nobody else would have stood a chance against this. |

What a brilliant sequence! I would have thought it was time lapse too ..... I'm confused, which is why I didn't enter.
Bet bot Tim and the golf club would love a print of this. |

Another note; If this isn't Time Lapse then what is? You sure couldn't have produced this shot at 1/125. The only way to capture this shot would be over time. I guess the rule makers have a non written rule that the time must be over hours in the same frame as well as an object you can't control. I entered the challenge but I'm not sure my photo will pass either. I can't wait to see the images that make it. Then check the forums, I'll bet it gets nasty. From what I have read so far, most folks agree with you. |

As I stated in one of my forum post I think the rules are too narrow for the challenge "Time Lapse" I agree with you roz, your photo would scream time lapse IMO. Great Job!

Legal or not this is a kickass shot! Seeing the ball at the end of the sequence really makes the photo for me. I find myself forgetting that this is all about our own photography ultimately, with DPC voting as an influence/guide - but it's a fantastic image for your portfolio and perhaps a whole new technique to play with - so who cares if it doesn't make a challenge (and a new/test/pioneer ruleset at that). You should get this one into DPC Prints methinks...would make a lovely present for a golfer. Anyhow, congrats on a fantastic shot.
edit: p.s. any chance you could put in your shutter speed/aperture/ISO details? Am interested to know what it took to almost freeze that ball (and his motion).

Huh - I would have thought this was a no brainer for time-lapse, go figure. Great photo anyway. Very well done and a great perspective. |

Well thanks for clarifying that - I understood the rules in the same way as you did... I guess the time lapse has to be much shorter than the span of golf shot. On your image, I love the colors and think the lapse is a great addition. |

You've got to be kidding me. Very irksome when the decisions are so random. But, we're all humans, and as long as humans are making decision for other humans, it's going to be bizarre at times. Maybe there will still be a turnaround.
That said - I LOVE this!!! Absolutely fantastic - the clarity and the colors as well as the POV. I can see you lying in the grass - someone should have taken a photo of you! lolol!!

Roz, Site council is simply wrong in this issue. As a golfer I know you have depicted a"natural" progression in playing golf. |

I'm sitting out the time lapse too, and a good thing, as I would have thought this legal also.
Very good job processing this image. |

Nice photo, irrespective of the time lapse issue. Great sky, nice compositio. You did a nice job with the overlap between the golf club of frame 1 and the back of the golfer on frame 2. |

Roz
Regardless of whether this is allowed in the challenge or not you should comfort yourself with the knowledge that you have taken and created an amazing image
I love the POV and the marvellous way you have combined the images without any degradation.
Superb colouring as well
I really think this is one that you should print large and give to Tim, he will adore it and it would be an amazing addition to any wall
For what its worth is gets a ten from me!!!!

I have to admit, Roz, I must not understand the concept, because I would totally think your entry is legal. In fact, I still do. I mean, it is a narrow, natural sequence of events, isn't it? If you haven't done so already, you might mention your exchange with the site council in the forums, because I expect other people will submit similar photos.
PS. When I read your photo caption "Not time lapse", I thought you were telling me that this is three different people! LOL
