 Well, adding my blurb now after all your wonderful remarks seems silly. Perhaps I got all the comments because of the mystique - ha!

This photo was taken on a pier on the Halifax river. It was shot on the same day as the other pelican photos I recently posted.

The pelicans were very prolific that day. This particular one eyed me suspiciously, and I can't blame him. I inched closer and closer trying to get a photo with a decent background. He actually remained on the railing, so I got quite a few good ones.

The photo is cropped to cut out distracting buildings in the background. I applied a hefty dose of Lucis Art Wyeth followed by my customary smoother: Redfield Perfectum.

Since Lucis leaches color and Perfectum affects sharpness, I sharpened quite a bit, and applied an adjustment layer of levels to make the colors pop more. The pelican was in the shadow and looked dull against the sunny background. I also did an adjustment layer of Hue/Saturation by lightening a wee bit and increasing saturation to achieve that surreal/unreal look.

I think that's all - at least that's all I remember.

I love the effect you've achieved here. I looks as though you might need to give your sensor a quick blow over, though.

This is simply fantastic and is one of my all time favourite's of your shots

love the fact that you have achieved a wonderful sharpness and detail on the pelican and that this then merges with a heavily processed background which is almost like an impressionist painting.

Pelican looks great, as do the water and land and buildings, but the sky looks like it may have suffered during the processing. How did you do this one and the kangaroo?
