I LOVE the peacefulness in this photo. It makes me a little home sick. I was born and raised in Eastern Oregon and visited a buffalo ranch often. I don't know the size of the ranch in your picture but the one in Oregon was a bit over 5000 head. We would often drive out to watch them at feeding time in the morning and evening. I took a semi tractor-trailer full of hay each morning and each evening to keep them fed. I thought sure it would be in the top 3 this week but, I can't fault the photos that did take the first 3 places. Congratulations. |

This is an exceptionally beautiful photograph. I get a real sense of place from this. Very nice use of dawn (or maybe dusk, but I suspect not) light to capture all the details of the fur and grass so well without too many harsh shadows. It seems as though it needs rotating slightly in the counter-clockwise direction to line up that horizon properly, but nonetheless I'm giving this 10 - lisae |

Initial=excellent Composition=great! buffalo on the left in one of the thirds, and looking right. Other animals lead eye into the photo. Shows the expansiveness of the area Clarity (focus, details)=excellent. details extend into the distance. Exposure=well done. colors and lighting are true front and back and into the sky Interesting or Emotive=interesting and emotive.
I am using a this new detailed commenting method inspired by autool. (Thanks autool!). I hope you find it more helpful than my former comments. Thanks for submitting, and good luck! ;0) kpb
Side note: Will you have a chance, or have you done so before... to photograph these in the snow?

needs a flatter horizon if possible. you've done well to be so close and then I like that there are more in the middle distance. |

Wow... That's awesome that you were able to capture this. The picture, in it's entirety works very well. I like the first buffalo being as close as it is - you can imagine the size of the animal... But the rest of the picture makes you realize just how "small" it really is :) Very nice shot... 8 - JB |

Very nice location. The picture is great. Maybe you could've move a little to get rid of some shadows, such as the one that is cast by the bone of the big buffalo. |

This is a great photo. Focus is outstanding. It's just a bit bright on the lighting, but not enough to ruin your 10. I love the subject matter. waltoml. |

I love this photo... out of all the photos in the current challenge, I think that THIS one does the absolute BEST job of relaying to me what it feels like and looks like to be in 'your corner of the world'. I don't particularly like the haze off in the distance in this image. A polarizer could possibly help this, but I love the image overall... This is probably, if not definitely, my favorite for the week... great shot and keep up the excellent work... = 10 - jmsetzler |
