This skull is actually an ash-tray. I poured lamp oil (in gel form) inside, put a candle in the front to illuminate the face, then poured a drop of the gel on his face as a tear (you can see the reflection in the blue flame)and lit everything!
The blue flame was meshwarped (slightly twisted) to accentuate the watery tear look; the original was flamming straight up and was quite boring. Then I added the redish tip to the blue flame to stress the fact that it's a flame + brightened the blue of the flame. The skull remains pretty much intact and the background was cleared up. That's it.

Beautiful shot, nice drop effect with the flame.

Interesting to use a flame to represent a tear. It is the perfect shape, and the blue gas colored flame reminds one of a watery cartoon tear. The yellow/orange glow from inside the skull and illuminating the skull is a nice contract in color. Wish it were deeper focus, and a little sharper overall. 7

This is amazing - the blue flame for a tear is a great touch, provides good contrast to the skull. Hamlet anyone?
