 Cities can have lots of green spaces and pretty views, but people drive along, oblivious. I might get some DNMC comments for this, but to me, this shot is dead on target. For what it's worth, this is about 1/4 mile from the FDR and Jefferson Memorials, and maybe 1/2 mile from downtown Washington, DC.

Shot with a circular polarizer both to enhance the colors and to allow a longer exposure so I could blur the cars. I took about 75 shots over maybe 45 minutes as lots of cars drove by. I liked the red color of this one and its position in the frame.

Post-challenge: once again, I'm reminded that if you don't bang people over the head, they assume you're trying to shoehorn in an irrelevant shot.

Gee Jeffrey, I was on the same page as you. You got a 9 from me. Hmmmm. I still think this should have finished much much higher.
In general, it seems the DPC public and I differed greatly on most of the pics.

This is a beautiful picture. I love the light and color. I'm sure you realize this would have done a lot better in another challenge.

I "got" it during the challenge, believe it or not. I do think you'd have convinced more voters if at the edge of the greenery there was a hint of city. Very good idea for the challenge!

I have to say that I agree with your thougts there. I kind of took a lot for granted until I started wandering out with my camera. Interesting juxtaposition.

Cars in motion can generate some interesting effects. The wheels looking like woven baskets is one I haven't seen before and is fun. I'll bet this would score better if the background had more urban elements.

Why does it look like the car is going backwards. An OK photo but lacks punch for me.
