 The Danube (in German, Die Donau), where it passes through Dillengen, Germany, in Bavaria; standing on a dam that crosses it.

Processed in Lightroom (including a lot of cloning of sensor dust, slight crop, exposure/white balance); then into Photoshop for noise reduction (Neat Image); resized; border; save for web.

This image is deceptively powerful. It is quiet and subdued tot he point of being almost matter-of-fact, yet something in it is singing. I imagine it is even more wonderful when seen at a larger size, when the dusting of snow on the trees has a chance to assert itself in counterpoint to the almost total lack of detail elsewhere. It's not every day a totally blown out sky actually works, but it sure does here :-)

Really interesting image... the way the sky and the water are virtually a blank canvas interrupted by the two lines of trees along the shore thrusting into the centre of the frame... it's very interesting.
