So at 12:30am this morning (Dec 17), I got the brainiac idea to go on a self portrait adventure. Armed with my friend's flea-bay triggers, my SB-28 flash, my D70s, wireless remote for my camera, a tripod, a stand, and some gels (for possible fun), I went out into my back alley, and ended up in the park just a few doors from my house.
Well, I learned that the flea-bay triggers SUCK in cold weather. They would only fire if the trigger was within about 2 or 3 feet of the flash. VERY ANNOYING. So after getting really frustrated, because I had all this creative energy flowing through me and my equipment was not responding as it should, I started thinking, and realized that because I was doing 8 second exposures, I could hold the trigger in my hand, and flash it multiple times by pressing the "test" button. As long as I could get the stupid triggers to fire a couple times, I might end up with a cool shot. My first attempt of having multiple versions of me didn't work because I basically had to stay in the EXACT spot for the trigger to work. So the picture is a result of extreme frustration and Slipknot in my headphones.
I didn't take this photo for the challenge, and up till a couple of seconds ago, I didn't even know there was a long exposure challenge. I actually edited the photo slightly diff first, but because of the basic editing, I had to loose those layers. The fully edited version can be seen here: //flickr.com/photos/cylerparent/2119264804/. (It has very slight color adjustments to diff sections of the photo.
I'm not sure how this will do. Usually I assume bad, but it could go either way I think. I haven't gotten any feedback yet, so it will be interesting. |
