 wanted to do something completely different from the usual stuff i photograph so i went for a walk on the firetrail !!!!!!!!! . lol lol ..
anyway we got up the top which is about a 15 minute walk from home and i noticed this blob on a leaf .. i wondered if it was an insect of some sort .. i was particularly looking for macro coz i had the canon 100mm on the camera ...
i couldnt see wot this was until i looked at it thru the viewfinder .. my eyes are the pits .. it could be the result of spending too much time in photoshop which is a bummer ..
anyway .... this cicada must'v just emerged from it's shell .. i dont think his legs were fully dried out .. i took a few photographs and went back the way we'd come so the dogs didnt hurt him by walking over his drying out place .. obviously he wasnt on drugs .. !!

the funny look in the background is from a plug/filter that i got at xero for free .. they come in sets and this one is called titanium and is in set 4 ..
this looks ok as a thumb but is a bit'v a disappointment when opened .. the titanium is probably a mistake ...
i put this in coz ppl might be interested in seeing a cicada just emerged from its shell ..
great that i havent totally changed the original photograph beyond all recognition so you can actually see wots going on .. !!

This is a nice little nature bit. It's good that you had the right lens for this shot. That is an odd look with the filter. It looks like a topography map, or marine chart.

That's really interesting, Roz---I could not figure out what was happening until I read your explanation. i like the filter- I have a set from xero too.

For some reason I really like the sound they make a definite sign of summer. Of course where I am there is freezing rain falling from the sky as I type... I can't say I like the background effect either but it is a good capture. Its crazy how long they live underground//.//

Wonderful capture Roz! I always find the shells, but not the cicada's emerging like this! What amazes me is the details in the shell .... they have hair!!!
