 I am not entirely happy with this... BUT I spent a lot of time attempting a self portrait so I might as well enter something. This is lit by a florescent light setup I got from home depot via the Strobist article if you saw it a while back. It is backlit by my Christmas tree that got setup a little earlier then normal this year.
Editing included changing the background to black and white, selective sharpening, selective blurring, cloning, healing brush... etc.. etc.. etc..

WOW, I love the lighting you have used here and a great BG. Only thing I would suggest is the ring around your neck should have been in focus also.

I would love to know what you used for lights.

That's quite a title for a self portrait. Good unusual background, focus is good on the face but seems off balance with the head chopped like this.

WOW, beautiful eyes. They pop right out to me. The background to me is distracting and takes away fromt he eyes.

Perhaps the light a little more over would have move that reflection into a less distracting spot.

good exposure. Eyes look amazing and you have lovely features, but the composition doesn't work. I would have cropped this to just be the face. Why not focus on what you've focused on?

Very handsome. I think the lights in the back are almost too much though... I can't decide. It's nice that it's not just a black background but I think the lights take too much attention away.
