Not a very emotional or creative shot, but I like the backdrop of engine blades. Lit with the 420 off silver umbrella up high to the left. WIsh I had gotten him to crack a slight smile.

ETA - Fixed the brightness of that swirlie thing in the background.

ETA - Aimee thought it was a bit too sharp so I did a NI and then added a gradient to bring the focus all to him and darken that one corner.

An excellent portrait of a pilot. Great use of the blades as the backdrop.

Tim - I think this is a really nice portrait, and the backdrop is just fabulous !

ps I wouldn't make the spinny thing any brighter as it would pull the viewpoint away from him, in fact I might even consider toning down the bottom right a little . .

But really good shot.

I think his expression is great here - fits his profession.

I don't know, I think the serious look is fine. The serious side of flying. Like "I'm a pilot, and this is serious business. See that thing behind me? If you got sucked in there, you'd be mince pies." He'd probably like the photo better if he was smiling a little though. The little swirly thing is a mild distraction being that close to his head. Maybe you could tone that down a little?
