Some sloppy editing on my part - how do I better "select" the sky so that I can edit it separately (see the lines)?

Awesome shot in so many ways and what a great feeling it elicits. It's hard to believe that you're asking how to do a selection after seeing so much of your awesome editing. There are multiple ways to do a selection, only a few of which I can do, so maybe there's hope for the rest of us.

I'm not good at selecting at all - you may want to try a blur tool over where the lines are to smooth them out a bit? But really, had you not mentioned it, I wouldn't have noticed.
