congratulations on your double 5's .. i'll be there next march .. or am i already there ?? .. i'm born in an even year and its an even year now .. nah .. i'm already there !!!!!! .. OMG .. dementia !!! .. at least i can still remember how to push that shutter button ...
you'll totally enjoy your new camera .. and yes it is a big learning curve .. but i'd guarantee a wonderful and exciting time learning the ins and outs of your excellent camera .. i think its the same one i have ..
love this photograph for the fact that its BEAUTIFUL .. also that i took photographs of a very similar looking tree/leaves wotever this morning .. its summer here so mine only had droplets of water from the rain in the night ... yours is much better ....:) |

Lovely, Jeanne!! I really like this! Simple and sweet and depicts that first snowfall very well. Processing looks nice - minimal and realistic.
With a dSLR, don't be afraid to oversharpen at first. I know I always leave things less sharp than most. Also, shoot RAW plus a jpeg. The camera can do that, and you can set the "processing" amount you want for the jpeg. That way you can see what a P&S equivalent would be, then play with the RAW file to see what more you can do to it.
