I REALLY had a hard time trying to figure out how you can "FAKE" dof?! hahahaha no idea, perhaps using a blur filter in photoshop? Well I can honestly say that's how it was shot, so it's not fake...
There is a bit of a halo on the apple and that was due to feathering during the selection of the apple in photohop, I added a bit of feathering because my selection wasnt exactly SPOT on and afterwards I thought it was ok as my main focus was the poisoned apple, it's meant to be magical so that's why I made it much more saturated than the rest of the image... it was to my personal taste but of course no to every1s like yourself =) |

Originally posted by AP: very clever, superbly composed, and great use of DoF. I rather like the apple looking old, makes it seem like some time has elapsed since she took the bite. But that means shes been lying there dead for a while, maybe thats a little morbid... but i digress... really cool shot, but I think you may have turned off some voters by getting a little bit too grungy/grainy with your editing... its hard to make that work with the DPC crowd.. |
The grain comes from using a 1600 ISO it was a very dull day and had to shoot indoors!! Also used AE compensation of +1
I gathered some people would notice the apple being old, but amazingly enough at least from the 1s that bothered to leave a comment, most like yourself thought it was a nice touch! hehehehe Which I'm very glad... BUT DAMN the score went down last minute... ah well I am very happy with this finish tho! 2nd PB woooooooooooooooo |

Great colors on the apple, and the slightly dried out look of it makes you know she has been like this for a few hours when you found her. Nice touch. |

might have worked better if the image were taken when the apple bite was fresh. The apple looks old. |

a very nice image, depth of field working very well indeed. i'm not overly mad on the very yellow flesh of the apple, though. |

Great interpretation and lovely photo. I really like that the apple looks sinister from the colouring, and the contrast effect of the apple against the relatively monotone model (with nice DoF). Good work!! |

Love the bokeh, setup. and idea, but the apple, for some reason, looks oversaturated and dark. |

Ah! Of all the Snow White images in this challenge, and there are A LOT of them, this is the one that truly brings something different to the table so to speak. I just love the approach you have chosen, well conceived. |

that is some excellent DoF control! also like the PP to get the overall tone of the image. I would try and get your file size larger, yours is only 93 kb and you can use up to 150 kb. If you use PS, you can look at this tutorial or look in your software for a Save for Web type of Save function. It will help with fine details and give smooth even OOF areas. A stellar photo, I like it |
