 This is a barn near my work. I finally stopped and gave it a photo shoot. After four more photo shoots, I finally got some decent ones.

PP: Put sky and ground on separate layers. Converted sky to b/w using Channel Mixer, then did the same to the ground. Cleaned up sky using NeatImage and other filters and blurs, all at very low levels to preserve the textures in the clouds. When I combined the layers, the lightning rods were gone, so I cloned them back in from the original layer. I did lots of fiddling with levels and contrast and considered adding some color (like sepia, bluish or yellowish tones), but I liked the b/w best. Resized for web and sharpened, then sharpened the sky again.

Evocative, dramatic, nostalgic, heartbreaking, thought-provoking. Dynamic range here is not limited to light and exposure, but extends into the emotional plane.

Wonderful sky! I like it in black and white, too. If I were to be picky, it would be that the sky is so very nice and crisp but your foreground subjects seem a tad soft. Still, I like it.
