Nice shot C, we all have a few shots like this...not the greatest shots in the world and not something thats going to end up in National Geographic, but special to us!! That's what it's all about!! I feel thats why most of us got into photography to start with...to record moments of our lives...then it expanded...lol. Too cool!!! I haven't skated in years (on Ice), but I still remember skating on the public pond down town in Bay City Mich. as a kid...it was very cool...Thanks...

I can see you keeping this forever as a family memory. But until I read your title, I thought the girl on the right was the main subject. I didn't even see your daughter at first. I can see how people didn't vote highly given the challenge, but again, I'm glad you have such a nice shot to hold onto! |

This is one of those "slice of life" photos that becomes a family favorite for years. Nice choice to do it in black and white. |

I really like this shot! I think it is a tough one for the challenge though. I can see your daughter as the intention of the photograph. However, the shot is so good, that really everything in the frame is appealing.Nearly everyone in the frame contributes a significant way to the photo. It's brillant, I just don't get that Alone feeling. Cheers are splendid work. |

Happy belated birthday to your daughter!
I am surprised this scored so low - it's a good photo! I looked over the picture first before reading your description, and she caught my eye right away. I love her expression. And I think it's PERFECT in black and white! |

I love the expression on Nicole's face in this shot, a nice mix of insouciance and little girl lost. For me the black and white worked well, it was just a bit of a shame that the girl with ear muffs skated into the frame beacuse without her I think this would have scored very very well. Impressive amount of comments means that at least you provoked a reaction (and generally a very good one given you ave score per commenter)

I don't see why this finished so low, great expression caught in a crowd. DpC voters are a strange bunch. |

Oh Charlene! I thought this was outstanding while I was voting. However, when seeing it, I figured it wasn't dpc friendly enough to snag a good score. Too bad, really. I think it's excellent and wonderful. |

What a wonderful photo. However I see it flipped and cropped so that the little blonde girl is in the lower right and the column is gone. I see jedusi see's it the same way. |

I like the composition, but it looks a little dark. |

Her look is awesome! I'd crop the right side.. eyes are more attracted to the white than black. |

For me it is a bit difficult to figure out who exactly is the main subject of this picture. |

Nice idea, but not really clear enough who you are referring to, as there are people down on both sides of your picture.
If you could have rotated to the right a little so the little girl on the left was framed between the two foreground figures and cropped in tighter from the right this would have made a punchier picture - for me at least :- ) |

The focus in on the girl on the front. We are we to focus on the girl sitting to the left or the person getting up on the right? |

Exposure too dark and I think it could be better if shoot in color.
The composition could be better as the lady in the left is distracting. |

I like this. More than one Alone, too. The girl in the center, obviously doing her own thing, and the young lady on the ice. |

I'm not sure black and white is helping you here. There is a lot of contrast which, to my eye anyway, is distracting me from your subject. |

IMHO this would have made a super shot ... for that little girl... but I guess with so much happening all around my eye wandered a bit before finding the subject. I just LOVE the expression in her eye. I wish you had a better angle on it. Perhaps removing the lady in the lower left corner. |
