 My title does of course refer to the pages of the book, so top marks if anyone gets that.

This shot could have been clearer but at 640px it's tough to decide to crop or not.

She reminds me of a headgirl from an all-girls school. It's a bit literal with the book but I wonder if people can see it anyway.

Was puzzled by the off-brief ones though. Was the image obscure or was the understanding of the challenge open to a much narrower interpretation?

Bravo. This should've taken first place... IMHO. The depth of field was eclipsed by your depth of concept, both I find irresistible. And using black and white, just helped capture the emotion of a cemetery. I can't help wondering what she's reading. Keep up the good work!

I too find the food distracting on an aesthetic level but I think it adds to that self-contained sense of isolation: she's got herself all sorted with her book and lunch ΓΆ€“ who needs anyone else?

Congrats. You've shown everything you needed to show but no more. It could have been more clear, more direct in it's message, more staged like, but then it would have sacrificed its reason for being beyond the walls of this challenge.

I like the look of this photo and somewhat enjoy the gloomy feel of this image however, I feel like it should have been cropped a bit tighter on the person and the background.

Foreground bokeh distracting. Reflection off of chairs in front creates a contrast with dark chair arms and dark fence, drawing my eye to the OOF area. I would have cropped this tighter on the subject.

I like the perspective and composition. I think I would like the shot a bit better if the subject wasn't in the middle of a bite. Great shot though.

Ooooooh. ..I love it! With only 61 entries, surely this one should be at the top! I love the composition of her sitting in the distance with the line of chairs leading your eye to her. And it is a great photo for black and white!

Composition: 1.5/2 - diagonal combined with rule of thirds (almost); border is too bold

Without a shadow of doubt my favourite picture in the entire challenge

Love the POV and a fantastic dof which means although the viewer is some distance from the subject that they can see exactly what she is doing in great sharpness.

The pose looks very natural (if this is a genuine candid then I salute you for having been able to pull this off so well...If it isnt, well it looks like it is and is all the better for that)

Lovely black and white conversion and the border works exceptionally well

Its a big 9 from me

I love the perspective and processing here. A lovely find, albeit a bit eerie eating in front of a cemetary, but that's just me :)

This is a really great photo and my initial reaction as soon as I saw it was to give it a really high score, but after a brief pause and consideration I realize that it really doesn't say "book smarts" that much to me. Anyway, giving you a 6.
