the glare on the top right draws attention away from the ring.

This looks out of focus. You should try shinning a small flashlight onto the diamond to try and get interesting reflections.

Too bad the texture of the ring does not show up as well as the texture of the satin.

Satin fabric lends itself well to softer focus, but hurts the preconception that a diamond (the focal point of this pic) should always be hard and sharp. Perhaps bring ring to forground and let the fabric fall into soft focus. Rather monotone overall, with not much contrast, which lessens the impact of this particular subject, making the ring disappear in a sea of like-colored satin.

Textures are nice. Make the ring almost incidental.

nice silky texture, but quite bland overall...?

The ring looks a little out of focus. But great photo.

Too much background, not enough subject.

I don't know if the focus is right on. Top left the texture is sharp, but the ring just doesn't stand out like it should

the large area near the front of the photo is soft focus. I do think that soft focus works and DOF is important to a lot of photos, but I think that here, the area that is soft is so large, that it draws a lot of attention, and away from the ring. I would like to see the ring in a brighter part of the photo. see how it is sitting in the shadows? kind of dark. The upper right looks more inviting, and the ring is just hiding down there in the darkness. It should be the brightest part of the photo in my opinion. ~Heather~

very challenging shot, well done

Satin is hard to shoot. I like this one. I'ts a challenge to not shoot something rough for a textures challenge. Great lighting. Wish the front was more in focus, but overall nicely done.

Tough to shoot shine..you did a good job controlling the light bounce. The ring needed a bit more focus and the very top could use a bit of a trim. Pretty ring.

what to say........did you want the texture of the ring to stand out, if so it is out of focus and not doing the job. Did you want the silk sheets to convey texture...if so they are too smooth and don't do the job either. Good concept but not on point. Sorry.

seems out of focus
02/18/2004 02:30:34 AM
Don't like this I'm afraid - seems confused, with no real point of focus, nothing to secure the eye.

Did he/she say yes?
