This is another one that'll either bomb or do really well...might not even be legal, we'll see. Technicals a bit off but I'm hoping ppl will overlook that and look at what the photo is of. Hoping it will have a bit of resonance at this time of year, what with voting starting the day after Armistice Day.

Made a HDR version of the original RAW file. straightened, USM, cloned out pillar and two small benches in the background, channel mixer, then two HSL layers, one for blue and one for red, and used masking to make the red bit appear where I wanted it to. (didn't make a great job of it I know, you can see the red bit spilling over here and there.)

I'm going to get lots of comments about the memorial (and the horizon) not being level. truth was, think my perspective was a bit off. I made the flagpole level, the fence wasn't. Used perspective correction on the gate, flagpole was off. I figured I'd get more negative comments on a wonky flagpole than a wonky gate...

POST: ouch it bombed. oh well, heigh ho. I went back during voting and realised the flag isn't quite vertical after all. Mind you, I expect if I'd corrected the rest of the photo *someone* would have had a go at my wonky flagpole.

This appears to be more of a selective desautration then a true duo tone.

Given you have had to mention the two colours in the title is worrying and clearly may go against the challenge requirement.

Nope, tritone... red, white, blue.

Tilted.
The red looks out of place.
Good message, though. :)

I really notice everything being tilted slightly, good capture, but next time I would straighten it.

i am not sure of the definition of duotone to be judging that aspect of the image. My understanding is one color with black or white. here i see the red and the pail violet. so i don't know. besides that the image seems to lack contrast/detail.
