I had fun with this one. Not quite an Andy Warhol knockoff, I filled a glass with water (honest!) photographed it, maxed the sliders for exposure and blacks in RAW and liberally worked the Levels sliders to blacken it even more. When just the suggestion of lines was left, I called it "done" and here it is. Oh yes, the glass is placed in the Light Tent, on a Light Box covered with a red gel.
More on the theory behind this one: DeKooning (an abstract painter) in his later years, painted in great detail and then subtracted more and more until all that was left was the essence of his work. I've always enjoyed that approach and that's what I tried here. (obviously not in the same league as the great man)

The glowing red is a beautiful color. My preference is to at least see a whole silhouette tho. Lol I could see where this would turn into a glass half empty/half full test. Thanks for sharing the setup info!

it would have been even more fun if the glass was full of beer. either way great shot. i like the red on the table or whatever you had the4 glass resting on.

I like this one a lot. And unfortunately it probably means that it wouldn't do very well in a DPC challenge.
What I like about it is the illusion of a glass of water, I instantly knew (even via the thumbnail) what it was, but it was just the illusion. The colors and the lighting are really great in combination.

Good thing you had fun with this.

Not sure if I like this (sorry). I like to see the whole glass, at least the borders.

Nice effect. The red gel really adds to this.
