I can't believe I didn't comment before - I spent a LOT of time looking at it. I feel like I am looking at a secret. |

this is fabulous! the array of textures and warm palette soothe an otherwise seeming emptinness of the image and this draws the viewer right in..
it is night, and I see items collected by a child during a day at the beach, which were left to set on an old wall (the ocean is just over the edge, there in the darkness) By the mroning, the tide will have swept them back into the sea...

Textures, colour, raked lighting, tones, all these draw attention to much immaculate detail. The composition, however, is bold combining thirds and forths against a deep black space bleeding away the dimensions of objects framing it. This, of course, introduces some ambiguity via areas (inner vertical bone on the left and insect remains so sparsely lit, it is a challenge to identify). Very little visual information is given to go beyond guessing as to what exactly the three objects are that combine this image, which leaves us with mystery.
What intrigues me though, is the balance of tack-sharp poise of detail (the obvious image facts) versus its opposite, the arcane and ambiguous element which is so deliciously packaged, it leaves also little doubt as to nature of things, inclusive of all conceivable connotations. This, of course, would be a "statement", something that goes beyond mere "depiction".
The tension between the emotional contrasts given here are simple, uncontrived and, to my senses, utterly credible and convincing, but it is also (or so it appears) an image with subtleties not immediately accessible to the casual viewer.

great textures and subtle color variations; too much negative in the upper right quadrant; i would have preferred to see the skeleton pushed closer toward the left and then a tighter composition overall |

Im not sure if this meets challenge, but it seems a little dull to me. However your composition is very good. |

I don't know what this is really, but it's very good to look at. Looks like the shell of an insect and some other items? Beautiful tones. |

It has a sense of sad macabre but I like it. Nicely composed. |

A touch too dark to tell. I think it is perhaps a Cicada shell? |
