I took probably around 60-70 shots and this one came out the best. Unfortunately though the flower is a little cut off.

Very interesting idea, but I think you have included too much "stuff" to be completely effective. Also, the shadow is very distracting. For some reason, the bottle and flower's shadow grabs my eye.

I like the interesting take to think outside the box. The lighting here distracts me. The image will still rank just fine with me, but the lighting shadows distract me from what the title suggests as the focus of the shot. Additionally the closed eyes on your checker queen doesn't give you as good of a shot as what you had set up.

Very nice attempt, but the lighting detracts from it. A second strobe or reflector on the left would help.

Interesting idea. For all the set-up time involved in this, I would've preferred to see the shadows less prominent. Especially the shadow from the bottle across your model's arm. Lovely model, by the way.

Harsh lighting = shadows. I am still trying to figure this out in my photos too. Great idea overall though.

To be honest, I would have liked this a lot more if it just had the checkerboard in it. The lighting looks a little too harsh and shadowy.

Shadows are a bit much. And I think color would have worked better for this one.

If you'd move your model a bit away from the wall those hard shadows would disappear.

The lighting here is too harsh. It is especially obvious because of the shadows formed by the flash. Try to use the natural lighting instead, if it is too dark do it at a different time of day with non-direct sunlight coming in from one of the sides. Another way to avoid the shadows is to have everything further away from the wall, so the shadows fall lower and they don't show up in the picture. Also, the checker board really blends in with the table. Try not to have so much wasted space at the top either.

Nice take, but the harsh shadows spoil everything. (4)

too many objects in this picture. Don't need the wine or the flower and the lady should have looked like she was inviting you to join her in a game.

FLASH, or why not to use a full frontal flash. the setup is nice enough but you killed it with the light.

I normally would gripe about the shadows but they kinda work well here
