Great idea ... but you got hammered by the speed voters. My daughters all loved the I Spy books when they were little. One thing about those books is that the set ups are pretty involved, and there's a lot to look at in the pictures other than the things you are trying to "spy." It looks like you spent some time finding things for your set up, but your shot ended up looking more like a quick snapshot of your kitchen junk drawer (c'mon, admit it, you know we all have them!) with some popcorn thrown in. A more careful set up with some attention to composition and storytelling (as in the I Spy books) would have scored much better. Even still, the colors and selection of junk are nice and the idea is fantastic. I think this should have scored much better than it did, and it got more 1s, 2s and 3s than it should have.

I think most commenters mentioned the contrast and sharpness. Also you could've bumped the colors up a bit (curves). I voted this a 5.

I didn't see the I Spy movie, so I assume this is a memorable scene from it. I used to watch the TV series I Spy back 100 years ago, but I didn't connect it to the title. I thought I was generous giving it a 5. It just looked like a bunch of junk drawer stuff with popcorn dropped in the middle. I guess you would have had to see the movie to appreciate it.

I thought this was a cute idea (I know what "I SPY" is lol) and I gave it a 6. I did not score it higher because it seems to lack some sharpness or focus. (like it's slightly slightly OOF) Did you use a tripod? Also everything seems flat, like some different lighting would have added a touch of depth and dimension.

Too busy for my taste.

Careful not to stick yourself going in for the popcorn, or the scissors for that matter. Not sure how big this was originally, but some pixellation on the left near the Burt's Bee's hurts the image a little. However a great take on the theme!

I spy your house key you lost. ;)

The subject is framed, some items lead to the subject, the rule of thirds is fairly well followed, but...

It seems cluttered. I bet this would look great as a black and white!

Interesting array of items, but why the popcorn?

This would be a really nice photo except that there isn't enough popcorn in the photo. The other elements in the photo tend to distract from the popcorn; otherwise, this is a nice, sharp photo.

This is a very unique idea, nice thought for the challenge. On my monitor the colors look a little dull, this could definitely use some help from a levels adjustment. Try to work on the colors to bring it more to life. I spy...a key.

Hmm. Can't say as I really like the composition for this challenge. I've played the game with my kids, but as a way to create an image that makes the viewer immediately think of popcorn it doesn't work for me. The popcorn is overwhelmed by the busyness of the other objects, IMO.

THERE R TOO MANY THINGS

Very busy! Everything looks just a tad washed out and doesn't have quite enough contrast.

Cute idea. I think one well-formed kernel would have worked better. Colors are a little soft...a bit of a saturation bump and a little sharpening would make this image "pop". :)

crowded picture, lackluster light, looks like no effort went into this one

the contrast needs to be bumped here
