Julia,
You sound like my twin with this,'...I'm a visual person and I do love rating;...the things I consider when I rate..." To that end I admire your ability to practice what you preach. I gave you an 8... I liked it!

I like it not being round. The composition is too static. |

Composition doesn't thrill me too much, and the front is a little off focus. Good example of texture though, and a good title. |

Lots of use and character in this quarter. Good for a 'Texture' challenge. Still not a very interesting shot to me. |

Your coin is a good take on the Challenge even if it is hemmed in pretty tightly by that heavy border. Good closeup photography. |

Good idea, and nice job. However, I don't like the angle. I'd like it better if it was dead on, or more of an angle. |

Pic is a bit too bright. Would like to have seen a bit more shadow to bring out the dimensionsof the piece.
Like how you can see the age of the coin. |

another money shot ;) Good worn feel to it, but quite bland. |

I see the texture, but the subject and composition just don't hold my interest. |

Highlight is just a bit to bright for my taste and I'd like to see the edging on the coin, but great shot none the less. |

That's a mighty big border you got there! Surprising amount of texture shown on that beat up old quarter! A good macro! |

Whilst you have shown this surface quite well, there is a lot more to be got out of this kind of subject. The levl of reflection used is effective in making the point of your title, but I think perhaps over-done from a visual point of view - I mean simply, doesn't look so good. Cropping and framing make it a very clauustrophobic image. |

[World Record Attempt]
+ Texture is present. Good macro.
- The white border is somehow distracting. DOF is a little too shallow.

I like the shadows that the lights creates but at the same time it seems a little over bearing. It is still a nice Photo (5) |
